Genevos & NatPower-H launch advanced hydrogen vessel configurator ahead of the United Nations Ocean Conference

June 3, 2025
  • Genevos, a leading provider of hydrogen fuel cell power systems, has launched a novel hydrogen vessel configurator in collaboration with NatPower-H, developing the world’s first global, large-scale network of green hydrogen refuelling stations for the maritime sector.
  • This world-first hydrogen vessel configurator has been launched ahead of the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) where Genevos will be featured as an ocean innovator.

Still today, fuels used to power vessels in the maritime sector have a severe impact on climate, ocean and health, and where emissions from maritime transport made up 13.5% of the EU’s total transport GHGs, recorded in 2022.

In recognition of the mammoth task required to move away from traditional fuels, processes, infrastructure and habits, the duo formalised a partnership in 2024 to implement support for these consequential energy transition implications on society, economy, and policy.

Today, the partnership has delivered on a key collaboration objective through the launch of this online hydrogen vessel configurator. This tool made available to the public enables instant configuration of a hydrogen vessel providing recommendations on powertrain sizing, products and comparison data. Advanced system cost comparison of technologies (CapEx and TCO), CO2 footprint comparison between technologies, and detailed product information can further be accessed through a detailed request.

This ground-breaking tool enables ports, shipyards and vessel operators to immediately identify key requirements, to accelerate decision making in this important clean energy transition.

“Launching this unique tool to the public demonstrates our shared commitment to sincerely supporting the maritime sector’s transition to clean and sustainable energy. We are delighted to make available key data to kick-start new projects and help define important decarbonisation strategies across the globe”, commented Rebecca Sharp, cofounder and CEO of Genevos.

How to find Genevos at UNOC3

Genevos has been selected to feature as an ocean innovator in the all-important Green Zone of UNOC3, held in Nice, France, from 9 – 13 June 2025, and open to the public from the 2nd. The conference aims to “accelerate action and mobilise all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean”. Genevos has also been invited to participate in the official special event, the Blue Economy and Finance Forum to present their zero emission hydrogen power solutions from the 7 - 8 June.
