Genevos receives Hydrogen Breakthrough Technology of the Year Award

Awarded at Europe’s industry-leading Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo, this becomes a second consecutive win for Genevos, last year achieving the Propulsion System of the Year Award alongside collaborator Transfluid. [...]

The awards, which were coordinated by Electric & Hybrid Marine Technology International magazine, were officiated by a panel of international journalists and industry experts to recognise the scope of innovation and achievement across the maritime sector over the last 12 months.

To recognise the increasingly prominent role of sustainability in the sector, the awards featured several new categories focused on environmental and clean-technology development. Genevos was declared winner of the Hydrogen Breakthrough Technology of the Year Award in recognition for significant advancements made in accelerating the clean energy transition with hydrogen fuel cell technology.

Notably, the achievement of AiP (Approval in Principle) certification for the HPM-80 (80 kW Hydrogen Power Module), enabling the technology to advance into the Type Approval process for wide-scale application across the maritime sector.

The 2023 Electric & Hybrid Trophies

Developed as a practical plug-and-play solution to decarbonise vessels, the HPM-80 is a stackable solution to meet customised energy requirements up to multi-MW scale. This modular ethos simplifies hydrogen access for clients through both the integration of a hybrid or full-hydrogen energy system.

“Following last year’s win of the Electric & Hybrid Propulsion System of the Year Award, we are honoured to take home the Hydrogen Breakthrough Technology of the Year Award,” said Genevos CEO Rebecca Sharp.

“This award recognises our contributions to accelerating the hydrogen transition through the development and AiP certification of the high-power HPM-80 (80 kW Hydrogen Power Module) marine fuel cell, stackable to multi-MW scale.

I am proud to share this trophy with the team, which is the direct result of dedication and passion to protect our oceans with a practicable zero-emission power solution for marine craft.”

The Genevos range of HPM solutions are integrated for durability with corrosion-resistant graphite stacks and IP56 rating, suitable to be installed in an engine room or on deck. Following successful factory acceptance tests, two HPM-80s will be delivered in Q3 this year.
